. they call me SPOTTEDFERN!
Name:[/b](debatable if true, but whatever floats her boat)
Spottedfern
Age:
25 Moons
Gender:
Female
Rank:
Medicine Cat
Clan:
ThunderClanOnce upon a time there was a girl,
YOU WOULDN'T REALLY CALL HER TYPICAL.
Short Appearance:
-- Dark tortoiseshell she-cat with pale green eyes
Detailed Appearance:
-- Spottedfern isn't a pretty cat, nor is she an ugly one by any means. She just is one. All over her appearance there is nothing that truly stands out of the ordinary or attractive. Her whiskers, tail, and claws are all average-sized, as is the rest of her body, in general. Being a female, she is rather smaller than the males and is even a little bit more frail than most of the other females. But other than her petite frame, everything else about her is normal for a Clan cat. Being born to a beautiful mother and rather dashing father, one would have expected a tad bit more, but Spottedfern is quite content with her appearance. She doesn't care for being the center of attention, and even likes the fact that cats tend to ignore her. After all, not only is she plain-looking, but she's a young cat (most older warriors tend to put their noses up to the younger cats, saying they don't know anything, especially in her case).
Spottedfern's pelt is easy to describe, and is probably a bit obvious by her name. Her pelt is a dark mix of mottled colors - tortoiseshell, if you'd like to refer it as. There are deep raven-wing blacks light mixed with copper, ginger, and some small goldenrod hues. It is your average dappled coat, except that she has absolutely no white on her entire body. She is a true, dark tortoiseshell cat. Her fur is slightly longer than average. She wouldn't qualify as a long-haired cat or a short-haired cat, but she isn't exactly a Maine Coon. She suspects some cat in her past must have been quite a fur ball for her to inherit this much (as her parents were both short-haired cats). To go along with her lovely dark, dappled coat she owns a pair of pale-green eyes. Her eyes are in-between almond-shaped and round for a cat's. However, they have a lovely almost sea-green color to them that is her only sign of vanity. She always thought her light green eyes were something special.
Personality:
-- Spottedfern is quite a unique cat. She is sometimes referred to as 'strange' or 'odd' by members of her Clan, but she never minds. Most of her Clan already knows her strange traits and habits and accept her as she is. Overall, Spottedfern is a very pleasant cat - she is one of the kindest cats you'll meet, not to mention the more sincere, as well as a true cat pleaser. She aims to help out any and all cats in need, whether suffering through a personal turmoil or a civil dispute, mostly because of her secret strife to make ThunderClan more pleasant than it already is. She has been considerate and kind like this since her kittenhood, which she is slightly proud of (as she does not like to indulge in vices).
Spottedfern is a very spiritual cat, which can lead to some strange habits. She puts all her faith in StarClan and she likes to 'interpret signs' that she believes are from them (which are often nothing more than a regular ripple of water; in her book, everything has a purpose and reason though). She is quite imaginative, I guess one could also say. She attempts to 'read her ancestors' or the stars in the sky when she is in personal trouble to try and seek answers as to what she should do. Likewise, Spottedfern is very superstitious. She believes in bad and good omens and is often seen scratching at the dirt to ward off bad omens. Like I said, most ShadowClan cats are used to her strange behavior, but when she meets a cat from a different Clan they are often very confused. Not that Spottedfern minds at all, of course.
Spottedfern, being a very spiritual cat, holds the warrior code dear to her heart. She believes it is truly what her ancestors knew was the correct way to live, and although she would never vocalize her judgment of other cats, she desperately worries for cats who she sees breaking the code. Although it would seem that Spottedfern would be perfect as a Medicine Cat, that is not necessarily the case. This reason being that she is an airhead and cannot remember much. Her mind is always traveling much faster than her mouth, her body, and everything else - causing her to sometimes mess up her words or clumsily fall and trip many times. Being a rather spacey cat, she always had to work much harder at remembering all the plants, herbs, and their uses. Occasionally, she will mis-diagnose a cat or give them the wrong treatment. So far she hasn't seriously injured any cat, but knock on wood!
History:
-- Spottedkit was the daughter of Paleflower and Ragingstorm in their second litter. Paleflower was a very pretty and sweet she-cat with a pale tabby coat and dark-colored feet. Ragingstorm was a powerful and large ginger tomcat with fierce blue eyes. Both cats seemed like a model couple - a sweet, darling she-cat and a large, strong tomcat. Everything about them seemed like a fairy tale. As far as anyone in ThunderClan knew, neither had ever argued with one another, and their courtship had always been most pleasant. Although they were fairly new warriors when they mated, both had been close ever since kittenhood; both Paleflower and Ragingstorm had been in the nursery together many many moons ago. The birth of their first litter was joyous to ThunderClan who had no kittens for several moons. The first litter had two tomcats, Redkit and Brackenkit. Paleflower and Ragingstorm were breathless upon seeing their kittens - they adored them. Ragingstorm often slacked off patrol duty to visit his lover and his sons in the nursery as they grew up.
Before they knew it, Redkit had become Redpaw and Brakenkit had become Brackenpaw. Paleflower and Ragingstorm had been so proud of their strong-willed sons as they advanced in life. Soon, the happy couple found that Paleflower had become pregnant once more. Moons later, as Redpaw and Brackenpaw were shy of becoming warriors, Paleflower went into labor once more. It was Leafbare by now, and Paleflower had come down with a nasty case of greencough during the late pregnancy. She birthed three kittens this time - two girls and one boy. Sadly, the boy died shortly after birth. Even worse, Paleflower's case of greencough became very serious in the days following the birth. The kittens, named Spottedkit and Brightkit, were taken into the nursery to be cared for by another queen while their mother was treated in the medicine den. Sadly, the infection spread too quickly and Paleflower ended up passing away that winter; Brightkit had caught the same case from her mother and also ended up passing away (although the medicine cat speculated that there was something more serious wrong with her that they could not diagnose).
Spottedkit grew up under the wing of the other cats in the nursery as well as a strange old she-cat named Crookedface. Spottedkit had met Crookedface when she was 5 moons old and secretly wandering camp. The two quickly formed a bond, as Crookedface had lost her kits when she was young and felt like a mother to Spottedkit. It is Crookedface who taught her to be spiritual and look beyond what the eye can see for a meaning in everything; arguably, Crookedface also made Spottedkit the superstitious cat that she is as well. Regardless, both cats got along great and often would hang out even through Spottedpaw's apprenticeship. Crookedface often told Spottedpaw that she had 'heard' Paleflower tell her how much she loved her daughter and how well she had grown up (which is debatable, seeing as Crookedface was actually senile and suffering from delusions by this time). Spottedpaw adored the older she-cat, and she became one of her favorite cats next to her older brothers. Spottedpaw had been made into the medicine cat apprentice a moon after her warrior-apprenticeship naming. Because of her kind, and often clumsy, nature her mentor complained that she was unfit. Whether under the influence of Crookedface's lies or StarClan itself, her mentor had spoke of her seeing 'signs' from StarClan. Almost officially, as if it had been a true sign, the leader decided to make Spottedpaw a medicine cat apprentice instead.
It ended up being very good timing, for the current medicine cat had been aging quite a bit. Ferntail, the precious medicine cat, had taken a fall a moon after her training began with Spottedpaw. Before she knew it, she could feel her passing was near. After Spottedpaw received her medicine cat name, Spottedfern, she took over many of the duties of Ferntail because the she-cat was simply too frail to function. Two moons after Spottedfern received her name, Crookedface also passed in the night from unknown causes. To Spottedfern it was like losing a mother all over again, but being spiritual she knew Crookedface was in a better place and that they should definitely meet again one day. Ferntail passed on almost as sudden, only a few days after Crookedface. It was a very hard time for Spottedfern - to lose two very important cats in her life. She has since recuperated, but the pain still can haunt her when she remembers.Dreaming all day, That's all she did,
EVER SINCE SHE WAS A LITTLE KID.
