they call me TELLER OF POINTED STONES!
Name:
-- Stoneteller
Age:
-- Twenty Seven Moons
Gender:
-- She-cat
Rank:
-- Leader and Healer
Clan:
-- Tribe of Rushing WaterYou think you know what's in my mind's eye.
But I can see clearly, while you stumble in the dark.
Short Appearance:
-- White and ginger
spotted Japanese Bobtail with grey eyes.
Detailed Appearance:
--Teller of Pointed Stones is a unique cat to say the least. It's not very often you'll catch a Japanese Bobtail, as they happen to be the rarer of the cat breeds. None the less, this long legged lanky bobtailed she-cat exists. There are many aspects to Stoneteller that couldn't be seen with the naked eye, and thus must be explained in detail. Stoneteller might seem like an ordinary cat, but like many she has her differences.
Body:
Stoneteller is already an interesting cat herself without even looking at the lack of her tail. Her coat is a creamy white, like the downy feathers of a new born chick and it seems to glitter like freshly fallen snow. But it's not a clean white no, Stoneteller has patches of black and a chestnut color brown that adorn her stump of a tail, and the back of her largely pointed ears. The black is as dark as midnight and the brown rival to the color of a chestnut tree. The spots almost glow in the dark, and she is very visable especially to the new territory in which she has claimed. While in the mountains she was almost invisible, the snow concealing her, and the spots being a minor deterrence. But now she's almost constantly spotted, by prey and cat alike.
Her paws are small and fragile but perfect for her occupation, moving the stones about and touching the water could be troublesome for a cat with large paws. It might seem like a minor plus for this small cat, but it matters. Stoneteller's ears are large and pointed, almost bat like. She has excellent hearing, and when she lived in the cave she could hear even the tiniest kit mewl and could be there within the flick of an eyelid even.
The one thing that sticks out about the Tribe Leader is her lack of a tail. Stoneteller doesn't let that bother her anymore, but before her rising in rank, she was teased mercilessly. It might seem like a silly thing to tease an innocent cat over. But to-bes will be to-bes, and they were no different than apprentices. The Tribe she-cat can't wiggle or mover her tail, it's more like a useless stump, but she doesn't really mind much now. Sometimes it impairs her balance just like her mother and her mother's mother before her. But this resilient she-cat never let a black spotted stumpy tail stand in her way.
Less visible, but seemingly noticeable: There are a few hidden things about the Tribe leader that cannot be seen by the picture above. Besides the obvious velvety pink nose, and the pearlescent white whiskers. Stoneteller also has spots on her stomach, just a few, but barely noticeable. They're mostly on her underbelly, but one does hug her left hind leg, it almost reminds you of a kit's paw trying to grasp at her to stop the Healer from moving. But there is no back story to the spot, it's just a spot.
Personality:
--Stoneteller has to be designated a certain way to best fit the needs of her Tribe. Since she was a to-be, she's been trained how to act and if she stepped a paw out of line she was corrected immediately. Luckily Stoneteller wasn't opt for a poor attitude from the beginning and thus it made it easier for her to transition into things.
Charming: Sometimes Stoneteller has to be charming in order to get what she wants or needs to benefit her tribe. She's prone to a lot of smiling and whisker flicking while in this mood. While it isn't certain if Tribe Healer's are allowed to have their own kits, Stoneteller can still be prone to flirting. She doesn't honestly see the harm in a little bit of banter if she does her job and protects her Tribe. However, this side comes out very rarely, and it's only around cats she trusts with the utmost sincerity.
According to a lot of the Tribe cats, it seems that Stoneteller can be prone to extreme bi-polar. However, this doesn't seem to affect her Tribe, but sometimes it is visible. Healers don't have to be perfect do they? Stoneteller refuses to admit she has this problem, and tries to hide it as much as possible. While it would be much better to talk out this mental problem, she refuses.
Depressive: This is something all cats experience, but the cats closest to Stoneteller believe it's a depressive disorder. Because when this healer is off alone, she'll get so low that no cat can bring her from her slump. It could pertain to her past, of which no cat dares speak of it. Stoneteller can almost not be found when she's in those moods, and it worries the Tribe little. They trust their Leader with their lives.
Stoneteller isn't always depressed, she is prone to her happy, and excitable moments. All of Stoneteller's moods are prone to change at the snap of a finger. She's learned to train herself in front of company, mostly other cats, potential enemies; not to let her disorder seem like a weakness for her Tribe.
Conscientious: The main attitude for Stoneteller, she is constantly worrying about the Tribe and the welfare of it if she does happen to go off. She's the first one there when a kit is born, even if she wasn't the healer, it's in her nature to be motherly and sometimes a bit overbearing at times. She worries constantly if a cat becomes sick, and she morns the hardest when a cat leaves for the Tribe of endless hunting.
It's quite hard dealing with a bipolar cat. All of the moods named could snap into fruition at any moment, and sometimes it can be quite head spinning. Stoneteller recently discovered this about herself, and she believes that more attitudes exist but have yet to bring themselves to light. For now, she fits in perfectly with the society she is given. But that could change, anything is subject to change.
History:
--
Kithood:
Stoneteller was born, Flower that braces the wind. But soon after it was decided that she was to be the next Stoneteller. It could have been because of her lineage, but that's not certain. She was the third great granddaughter of Brooke and Stormfur. They were long gone before this tiny cat even became a twinkle in her father's eye. None the less, she was a very important cat from the moment of her birth. There was some cause for concern when they found her stump of tail, as it was a recessive trait. But they figured they could just monitor it and see if it affected her position in anyway. It wasn't like they were going to replace her, but it would have made it difficult all around if it had proved a physical problem. None the less, Stoneteller grew into a beautiful young to-be, because even the Healers had to experience defense training, and that's when things got complicated.
TO-BE
When Stoneteller was ready to finally become a To-be, her apprenticeship of sorts was marked with danger and tribulations. The day before Stoneteller became a To-Be, she predicted her mother's death. Sadly, she was right, but she wasn't as close to her mother as she was her father, and it wasn't until she predicted her own father's death that cats started to fear her. She would be picked on mercilessly by the other To-Bes, coaxing her to predict their death. Of course they thought she was insane, and lying. But when a sharptooth showed briefly just to take her father, the other cats started to follow her every word. Stoneteller couldn't be To-Be for long before she was forced to lead her Tribe. She would never forget those cats or their words, and she had them punished according to their crimes.
Stoneteller
When all finally seemed to be going well for the young she-cat, her Tribe started to drop like flies due to some illness that was never discovered. She had to sit there and try to heal kits as they passed on too early, and elders as they yowled their suffering. This tore poor Stoneteller in half, her mentor had died before he could teach her that suffering was part of the job. So she had to bottle her own pain, and let it split her brain; thus the bi-polar. When it seemed that the sickness was finally over, a tom seemed to have taken interest in the young Stoneteller. His name was Fox that leaps in the snow. Stoneteller herself was quite taken by him, but it wasn't certain if she was allowed to take a mate. Even more so when the stones foretold of his death, and the next morning that Stoneteller woke up.. She found herself face to face with her love's corpse. The Hunters had reported a Sharptooth in the area. Stoneteller refusing to lose anymore cats to these beasts, prayed to her ancestors and they told her to seek aid from the Clans. So she packed up house and home, and started their long trek to seek aid from the Clans. She doesn't know if they'll help her, or if they'll turn her away. But this Tribe Healer has little choice.
